I thought perhaps I should introduce myself. My name is Charlotte and I am 32 years old. I live in Dubai with my husband and two little boys who are 7 and 2 years old.
I am currently a stay at home mum, however I add to that business by crocheting and creating crochet patterns. I have finally got round to creating this site as a library and journal of my creative projects, hoping to share them with others. Before I had my boys I worked in schools as a Textiles technician and teaching assistant. I loved working with children and especially with art and sewing. I continue that now by running a couple playgroups for toddlers.
I learnt to crochet over 10 years ago now, taught by my mother in law Linda. I think it was one of the first weekends I spent staying at her house in South Devon. Linda is always doing something crafty! I needed to learn to knit as we had a knitting task coming up at school and I needed to be able to show the students. So she taught me how to do simple knitting. It was ok, but I got frustrated if it went wrong or I dropped a stitch! She then introduced me to crochet. Now this I could do! She taught me the basic stitches and how to make a granny square and I just went on from there.
My first projects were blankets for my new nephews and nieces, taking inspiration from Jan Eaton books. After I moved to Dubai I started exploring amigurami, Japanese for small things but basically crocheting small teddies and animals etc. I am now totally addicted and have made tons of different amigurami over the years.

The animals above are patterns from a book called Friends of Pica Pau. They are so imaginative and some have a really interesting construction. It was this book that finally encouraged me to think about creating my own patterns. I have kind of been doing that along the way anyway, getting asked to make random products by customers where I couldn’t find the right pattern. So now I am recording these challenges in the hope to share my patterns with you.
